Hi there folks. For my sins I am the person responsible for setting the questions for the WQL.I was requested last season to add more showbiz type questions to the GK rounds and until now I have not been asked to change the format.Quiz for the 19th has been sent so the entertainment element is still to the fore. I have replaced the showbiz questions in the GK rounds for the quiz on the 26th. Might I suggest that in order to keep everyone happy why not have just one entertainment question in every GK round from then on. I welcome your views on the subject Best regards and happy quizzing Chris R

Fair point, Den... It's best not to fiddle with the content too much as we rely on the experience of the question setter... but we have had many comments that felt that there was just too much entertainemnt in there at the moment...

Swapping the entertainment for general knowledge! Why are we doing that??? Does that mean that they'll be no more Eurovision questions? Outrageous!
If I'd known you were taking requests I would have asked for a round on Winchester City FC every week!
Isn't it best to take pot luck with the questions rather than skewing them towards the subjects that some (and only some) members of the quiz league prefer?

It's great to get the season started again - I forgotten how much I enjoyed it until last night!

As I didn't play on the night in question for the Inceds. I don't know what happened, but I can vouch 3 teams we have played this year did not buy us drinks either.I agree with Den about people not wanting to buy drinks so it may be hard for them to decline if asked. Maybe we should think no drinks unless stipulated before by - should we say by the away team?

Norman, I suspect that that is why it is no longer referred to as the "gallon" round. I do think that it should be decided in advance whether there is a beer at stake or not, but people are often too polite to bring the subject up. However, I fully support the idea of buying a beer for the victor, and intend to continue regardless.

Congrats to the Incredibles, for winning the Cup, but NO congrats for buggering off and not buying the C&H a beer after losing in the evalve the week before. It's not the first time that this has happened to us - without wishing to upset all those we have enjoyed playing against, (and usually stumped up for the beer), I suggest we scrap the 'buying a beeer' idea so that we all know where we stand.

We have apologised personally to Lyn at the Green Man, and hopefully addressed the food issue. She was very kind accepting our apology and I would like to apologise on behalf of the Lions to the Green Man team for the lack of notice. Our only excuse is an internal breakdown in communication. Lions, Lions everywhere but none that stopped to think...story of our season!
